The Building Black Youth Foundation(BBYF) is a not for profit organization that provides educational and mental health support for children, youth and families aged 0-19. We also provide cultural based learning opportunities that connect children and youth to their culture and history, supporting and encouraging them, to build self worth and self belief. We connect parents with needed resources, information and local services and provide fun, engaging learning opportunities for our children and youth.

Volunteer Recruiter Job Description 

We are looking to employ a Volunteer recruiter with the ability to develop recruitment strategies to meet the objectives of the organization. He/she is responsible for designing and implementing recruitment plans for the organization. They should confer with management to assess, and identify staffing needs. The Volunteer recruiter will execute recruitment plans and source the most suitable candidates to fill positions.


To ensure success as an Volunteer recruiter, you should focus primarily on acquiring talented candidates who will add value to the organization. An outstanding Volunteer recruiter should have a network of contacts in the industry and understand how to use social media to attract suitable candidates for current and future posts.


Volunteer Recruiter Responsibilities:

  • Filling volunteer positions within an organization.
  • Designing and implementing recruiting systems for the organization.
  • Developing own network of suitable volunteer candidates.
  • Handling of administration and record-keeping.
  • Working with organizations to develop  a volunteer recruitment plan.
  • Executing recruitment plans efficiently.
  • Drafting and posting volunteer job descriptions.
  • Interviewing candidates.
  • Preparing job offer paperwork.
  • Networking with various institutions and social media.


Volunteer Recruiter Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in human resources or MBA, would be an asset.
  • Experience with volunteer recruitment and retainment.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office(Excel,Word, Powerpoint) and Google Workspace(Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet).
  • Excellent record keeping.
