Job Developer – Job Posting

Title – Job Developer

Full time position.  One-year contract, renewable.

Salary: $55,00.00 to $60,000.00 with extended health benefits after 3 months

About CEE:

The CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals (CEE) is a Toronto based non-profit serving Black youth (18 – 29 years old). CEE advances the economic and social development of Black youth facing multiple barriers to employment. We achieve career development and job readiness using holistic, person-centered and culturally relevant programs and services. Our vision is a society and economy in which Black youth achieve financial prosperity and a high quality of life for themselves and their families. We achieve this in collaboration with Black youth, their families, employers and the broader community.

 

Position Summary:

The Job Developer provides a range of assessment and support services in order to determine a participant’s eligibility and employment needs, as well as extensive sales and marketing strategies to attract employers to utilize the program.

The Job Developer will prepare participants for employment in collaboration with the social worker and facilitator of workshops. The Job Developer’s primary role will be to develop and continue to maintain relationships with employers to secure employment and placement opportunities.

The Job Developer will work, and be part of service delivery, within a fast-paced environment at CEE which is offering multiple program opportunities for youth participants.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducts participant case-management including needs and risk assessment, contracting, implementation and follow-up as it pertains to employment/vocational goals and other participant needs.
  • Identification and assessment of participants’ need for job coaching.
  • Assist participants in the development of appropriate work habits, behaviours and attitudes for the workplace.
  • Responsible for communicating participants’ level of risk to staff.
  • Actively recruits employers and seeks out job placement opportunities, including identifying and contacting new prospective employers in industries/labor market that participants have identified as area of interest.
  • Develops and monitors training plan and agreements with participant and employer. Acts as a liaison between participant and employer.
  • Facilitate employer related workshops to groups of youth
  • Assist in the preparation of youth’s resumes
  • Conducts ongoing research of and outreach to employers, community resources and programs.
  • Facilitates, develops, and evaluates group/individual training with regards to pre-employment and job maintenance issues.
  • Provides documentation and handles confidential data in accordance with the CEE and funder’s standards. Participates in the compilation of internal and external reports and statistical data. Quality assurance with respect to assigned tasks to ensure compliance with program standards.
  • Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our CEE competencies; takes a participant focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association.
  • Represents the CEE and the Association in a professional manner.
  • Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with participants, volunteers, donors and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement: All participants of the CEE team are expected to be accessible to community, be present at community events when required and serve as ambassadors for CEE.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in delivering community programs
  • A proven ability to work with Black youth living in priority neighbourhoods
  • A post-secondary degree in a field relevant to the social services sector or a combination of relevant experiences and related education
  • A proven ability to mentor, coach or train individuals
  • Experience in sales/marketing, file management, recruitment and job coaching
  • Experience in skills training and workshop design and facilitation
  • Experience in producing work-plans, budgets and conducting project evaluations
  • Experience in marketing events and recruiting participants for programs
  • Proven ability to build a robust professional network
  • The ability to build partnerships and deliver collaborative programming
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and related software
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Knowledge and experience of working within an anti-oppression and anti-racist framework
  • Personal commitment to the values and mission of CEE
  • Access to a motor vehicle is required for this position, as extensive travel within the city is required
  • Asset: Experience in employment counselling or job readiness programming
  • Asset: Experience in grant writing
  • Asset: Training around working with participants with mental health or substance abuse issues
