ABOUT CEE ESSENTIALS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING:
The CEE Essentials is a professional development training suite that is organized around 5 pillars:
Engagement, Empowerment, Education, Employability, and Entrepreneurialism.
The pedagogy is rooted in transformative and experiential learning. The objective is to facilitate professional and personal capacity in the areas of person-centred, responsive, and culturally informed programming (versus restrictive/ punitive approaches).
TRAUMA INFORMED CARE 1: THRIVING AFTER TRAUMA :
Frontline workers who support trauma-impacted clients and communities are faced with a uniquely complex dynamic and the real challenge of working to bring about transformation. This training is focused on building capacity around trauma and trauma and trauma-informed approaches. We cover trauma definitions, theory/types, impact, and interventions.
TRAUMA INFORMED CARE 2: WORKING IN TRAUMA CHARGED SETTINGS:
We’ve long heard the axiom: “hurt people, hurt people. Research also shows “people who have experienced trauma are at risk of being re-traumatized in every social service and health care setting”. One of the ways to prevent this counterproductive cycle is to gain insights about trauma and how front-line workers handle occupational trauma. We explore occupational-related trauma, the potential for a trigger, and sector-based interventions.
TRAUMA INFORMED CARE 2: WORKING IN TRAUMA INFORMED CLASSROOM:
We explore best practices in creating a trauma-informed classroom dynamic. What are the best practices for facilitators and how do we implement a transformative learning pedagogy?
MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING FOR TRAUMA IMPACTED GROUPS:
Research shows motivational interviewing (MI) is an effective approach to facilitate behaviour change in therapeutic contexts. Recently, MI is being used in non-traditional therapeutic settings such as prisons and probation departments. In this training, we explore various elements of MI: definition and core concepts, working and historical context, change theory, and intervention approaches. The session closes with a case study.
